Drove it to the dentist 65 miles and the damm thing sprung a leak. Oil from the front cover I think. So, I used assorted salty words at the jeep, bought case of oil and drove home. It leaked a total of about 3 quarts in 130 miles.

They are not called Rough for nothing.:poke: Be good to hear a first hand experience with them. Will be expecting a report after 6 months. :drive::drive:

Pretty sure that’s what was on it. At this point no suspension would be an improvement LOL. I think having even harsh new springs and functional shocks is much more better. I figure if I ever get tired of a bumpy ride I’ll move over to YJ springs..... Ya know, back in the day, a bumpy ride provided for a nice “bouncy” ride. Now I’m the one bouncing.........

That’s a lot of oil. Going from no leak to that much sounds like a break....... I hope not. Keep us posted

My first set of lift springs were Rough Country 4" YJ springs. Lasted about 2 years before they lost half their lift.

Yup - Startin an OME fund jar, and I figure by the time these flatten out, I’ll empty the jar and buy good ones. This was also an experiment - I couldn’t decide between 2.5” and 4” springs...... And this was as cheap as I could try one. I will say, tho - new 4” springs combined with my short legs says that if they don’t flatten a bit I’ll need to carry a foot stool around with me LOL.

Confirmed timing cover leak, now I wait as the mechanic handles it. I did think nice thoughts about the jeep who empty's my pockets.

Have been patiently waiting for new springs to arrive, only to have to send them back because the supplier keeps sending CJ springs even though I keep ordering YJ. Finally got the last set this morning so I can reduce the lift to a more sensible 2.5. Waiting on a pair of fiberglass half door tops so I can install the YJ doors. Anyone here have any experience with the rally top door sliders?

“…so I can reduce the lift to a more sensible 2.5.”

@Doclee, been there done that. Didn’t take too long to realize that lifts are not for me. Went back to stock height springs, wide track axles, and a mild body lift. I was able to create space for my 33’s and rotate Transfer Case full horizontal. Good luck with your rig.

Sniper 4 barrel EFI (TBI) installed - now controls timing and spark fully, fan circuits, and A/F mixture.

To install this we had to rewire the whole engine compartment (well chose to), completely build new custom exhaust, replace all fuel lines, and adapt stock tank with internal pump and return etc.

First start up - she sounds mean!

Have some tuning to finish up from there, but all in all pretty excited!

Pics or it didn't happen. 😁

Gave the roll bar a coat of paint and a high mount brake light.
Don't believe I've ever seen a 3rd brake light on the roll bar before. Nice touch, and nice CJ.
