CJ, it’s for looks. This car style intake hardly outperforms the truck/suv style that I currently have. The engine gets a stunning look sitting way down low in the bay with that ribbed top. And I get to keep the sleeper outside look with no fancy hood scoops or vents.

I'm fortunate enough to live only two towns away from the folks at Redhead Steering Gears. It makes it real easy when you don't have to deal with shipping or core exchange! I took my old leaky creaky down and brought home a new Redhead. I also brought home a t-shirt for the wife (also a redhead).
Then later a delivery person brought me my new M.O.R.E. steering box bracket so I could trash my OEM 2-piece "thick sheet metal" AMC bracketry. I noticed several outfits selling these on the web, but I didn't see where the others had quality welds like these. This one is heavy duty. Sorry, no banana for scale...
I also had two bolts that were broken off in the frame and managed to get them both out today! One of them twisted off during my removal process, and the other was twisted off already. Imagine my surprise when I then noticed that the one that was there already was the rearmost hole in the front spring perch--leaving the spring perch with only one bolt holding it on!
I was lucky that each of the offending bolts had about 1/4" of threads still protruding. After welding nuts on what was left of the threads down below, I bored an access hole on the front of the crossmember.
I used my old torch to heat the welded nuts up nice and hot through the access hole and quenched the bolts with a cold, wet rag. It worked out pretty nice. Now I just have the one round hole to weld up.
So, that's what I did to or with my CJ today. It was a good'n!

Drove to Gibsonia to the Jeep Ranch for the spring swap and show.
I had no intention of entering the show, but the guy who owns the place, Bill Hollibaugh, come up to me and said I needed to move into the show area, so I did.
And I won a trophy!
Didn't find anything I wanted or needed at the swap, but all in all it was a lot of fun!!

Today I found out that CJ's in 81 (at least) had (2) different diameters of sway bars available. The one that keeps coming up in all the parts sites seems to be the only one anyone lists, and it's for a 13/16" (21mm) diameter sway bar. Well, because my CJ7 has a 15/16" (24mm) sway bar, I spent quite a bit of time digging and comparing dimensions on the web. I found that the correct one for my 81 CJ7 is the same as the one listed for an 84 Cherokee. So, just a note if you think about replacing those shredded rubber bushing halves that are hanging out of your sway bar mounts:
K3195 for smaller 13/16" sway bar
K3170 for larger 15/16" sway bar
Also, it appears universal that the smaller ones are not slit unless they're polyurethane. I guess if they're rubber you're supposed to "vaseline" those babies all the way down from the end of the bar...

I have the 84 and I think I remember looking them up back in the day and I had a choice of 15/16th or 1 inch. With a tape measure looks like it’s close to the 1 inch. Micrometer is buried and it’s been so long since I used it I’m not sure I remember. Both split
