This is the mount for the air intake on my 1980 CJ5 . It looks like someone put an M80 in it and blew it up. i want to replace it, but don't really know what to look for since I don't know what it's called.

Also the rectangular hose that goes from this disaster to the air cleaner is a wad of duct tape. But the only replacements that I can find are for non power brake Jeeps. And they are too short. Mine has power brakes. and I can't find anything. Any suggestions or tips would be appreciated. I just want to clean up this mess. Thanks. D.B.

The hose is called an ambient air duct. The mount on the radiator mount is called a adapter. This is looking at my fsm.

Thanks for the replies. I've checked Ebay (And everywhere else) And they are either too short or 4 inches x 4 inches. And I need 4 inch x 2.5. And I can't find the adapter at all. Dayum these parts are hard to find.

Have you tried morris 4x4 yet? Last time I was on their site a few years ago they had almost every part available to built a new one from scratch. Just an idea.

I see are from cali, you can also try J&W jeep auto wreckers; jwjeep.com
I hear they have a large selection of jeep parts.
I have one somewhere in my parts stash, but won't be back until Dec. to check sorry.

So what is wrong with the one you've got? Take it off, clean it up, straighten the bent flanges, weld up what needs some work, paint and replace. Most of it will be hidden when the ducting is replaced.

What you've got doesn't appear to be OEM. All the OEM one's I've seen for late model CJ's are plastic. That one is steel (rust). Looks like someone took a piece of flat sheet metal, cut it, bent it, and used it. Probably explains the odd size too.
