What is this.

I tried looking under the Jeep Underhood adventures link but did not see this canister. I thought it was the Evap canister but I see that on the drivers side. This can even though it has two spots for hoses only had one hose connected to it. And the other end of the hose was connected to nothing.

My '85(CA. model)never had that canister.
Wonder if it's a vacuum reservoir or such?
Is this jeep a 'high altitude model'?
I have seen those canisters used in A/C setups also.

Not sure if it’s a high altitude model. How do I find out? Also it is equipped with A/C but it’s disconnected

No it was part of emission system on some 80's 4 and 6 cylinder engines, also called a vacuum tank.
