Vehicle(s)
'76 CJ5 with an '88 258 from a YJ.
AMC20, D30, D20, T150.
I scored a pretty nice late model AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l from Craigslist. It was almost worth the 4 hours of NYC traffic we sat in that turned our 15 hour travel time into over 20.

A few cans of spray carb cleaner and a pressure washer later, it cleaned up really nice. The intake and exhaust manifold have a few hundred sensors and ports and heaters.

So I'm trying to figure out what it came from so I can get a FSM for the engine to see what went where, what I should use and what should go away.

From what I can tell, it's a January 1988 block, which means not a CJ. So is there a way to tell what it did come from?

Block 3235444 date code 801C29
Head 3661
Intake 3237858
Exhaust 3237096 - 2AB (?)

Thanks to those who helped with the mount thread sizes. My pallet of death did well for the 450 mile trip home.

It's probably from a yj.

The YJ still used the carburetted AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l up until 1990 so it is from that vehicle.

I'd think real hard about putting that YJ motor in there. You might come out to the garage one morning and find that your headlights have turned square!:D
