1972 jeep cj5
Hey everyone, I have a 1972 jeep CJ5 with the factory option 60/40 front bench seat. I know a lot of people like this because its rare and not a lot of jeepers have it but i really just like high backs. A guy wants to trade me his high backs for my 60/40 front seat, passenger seat, my rear seat, and i have 9 yards of black vinyl to recover my seats with. How much money should I ask for on top of his 2 high back seats?

thanks,

alex

You know, these type of questions come up often and it is always difficult to say... :(

It really depends on the situation and how bad you both want to work something out. It really boils down to what would make you both happy. :)

Definitely agree with CJ...
How bad each of you want what the other has is the point of contention. The 60/40 I have cost me $100 with all the required small bit/ piece parts, however it needs a FULL overhaul to be considered for use in my Jeep. Roughly another $200 if I have a shop do the upholstery. If you could post some pics of your seats, we might be able to help you get in the ballpark for an asking price and/ or a rough trade estimate.
FWIW I just sold a pair of CJ7 high backs for $90 and a fold-and-tumble rear seat for $100... both needed no work, and had no mounting brackets included.

tell us more about the high backs??
IMHO there are a lot of after market high backs that are as comfortable as a park bench.

I don't think you will ever have a problem parting with the seats but unless they are cherry high end I would pass.

thanks guy i actually decided to get the seats reupholstered and then either keep them or sell them so i could get new seats. I will post a pic of them before and after they are done. the guy reupholstering them said they should be done on friday

thanks!
