At my plant all of our building drawing are autocad so we still use it to keep everything updated. I have a mechanic who is very good at it so I had him draw it up for me.

wow. autocad. I haven't used that since 1991.

I didn't start using it until 1998! It was open on my computer all day today.

That and cutting shop & We-Cim.

Cut this today for my rubi-rack to mount the license plate. I guess it would be called an adapter or bracket LOL

:chug:

That looks great!!!! What did you cut it with?

I used a CNC Plasma cutter. I built it a few years ago to supplement our lagging weld shop. It is a lot of fun. Today was about three hours of "Jeep" stuff cutting. Made some gas can brackets and roll cage foot plates too.

Well, without having those cool tools and machines (although I do sell them for a living as an auctioneer) I will be MAKING a hockey puck work as a bushing for my grill.

hockey puck huh.....thats awesome. never thought of that.

i'm using some heavy duty lawn mower plates to use as switch boards on the roof of my roll cage.

Well the only kit I found for that front bushing setup is like $35. I have some old ice pucks sitting around so figured it would work just the same, bought an exhaust hanger, new bolt, and new washers so it will go from bottom to top:
Bolt-Frame-Washer-Puck-grill- hanger-washer-into the square nut. I will let you know how it works.

Back in 1991 I was broke so I put a two inch hockey puck body lift on my CJ5 . It worked great and the pucks will last forever. I paid $22 for pucks and a few bucks for longer bolts.

No reason I couldn't use a third bolt on my stock shackles, is there? What do you suggest for a tube to slide over that middle bolt?

The stock shackles are made differently from what I could tell. I don't know that a middle bolt would be necessary. The replacements I got were made like what the OP made and a middle bolt would be absolutely necessary. I fyou want to add one, just take a careful measurement of the distance between the plates installed and then find a piece of pipe cut to that very carefully measured length that will fit over the bolt you have chosen.:chug:

What exactly is the stock size of the shackles???? Cause when I took my old ones off they were only 4" inches long seems little to me and if I go by the print that I found it sais the stock shackles are 6" long so thats what I made myne to. lol

I'm just going to use one of the bushings that came with my bushing kit for the middle bolt.

stock shackles should be 3 inches center to center.

... and the shackles that have a bolt in the middle are a little longer than that.
It's not good to have shackles that are too long but I think the best shackles have a bolt or brace between the 2 plates. And for that reason these are a bit longer than 3 inches.
