Whats normal break peddle throw ?

Getting close to pulling the CJ, '66 CJ6 , out of the garage after round one restore. One item replace was the break master cylinder. It was bench bleed, then bleed all four corners. I put it up in stands and put it in gear and tested the breaks and they seem to stop rotation fine.

The peddle is nice and firm, just much less throw then I had with the old leaky one, so since this is my first Jeep and I have to back down my steep driveway as my first rolling test I thought I would ask. How much break peddle shouldn't have?

Troy, nothing wrong with a firm pedal , if you replaced all the brake linings & drums that will remain at that height until they seat in a little then the pedal will retreat some............you should be fine! Is that a later style dual chamber MC?

Thanks, glad to hear it! Didn't want that first trip down the driveway backwards to land me in the creek, literally.

The PO had the breaks done not long before I got it and I haven't been in there yet to inspect, that is coming, but it had good breaking prior to the new MC, just took the whole peddle. When I was working on the steering box I found the MC had a leak, picked up a rebuild kit and pulled it out. Then found it to be too pitted to put back in so replaced with stock. I still need to decide what to do with the total breaking system so I just put a stock single cylinder MC back in.
