True, my buddy has a 2011 unlimited. But, it would still be a pain in the *** for him to have to tow he 100 miles 
The 258 was rebuilt and so was the T-5. I did have a small radiator leak but it went away.. Weird. So, I was thinking about replacing the radiator, coolant hoses, water pump and alternator and battery.

Pump in 2-3 times manufacturers recommendation for Slime per tire.

That doesn't help much when you get a tire sidewall pierce like from a rock or a tree. I always bring a plug kit, air,tools, and a full size spare plus drive slow.

I wouldn't have one that I couldn't do that with. If I did (and I do), I'd work to make it that way before heading out like that. Sure 
happens, but it's too easy to make the drivetrain on these things like new and to make sure you're wiring is up to snuff.
Buddy's never hurt, nor do radios, tools, mobile phones, flares, etc. A good running CJ should have no problem pulling your buddy's 2011 Unlimited back to the main road.

As many have mentioned, PM everything before each trip, bring the essentials for recovery/self extraction, spare fuel/water ect. Myself and 2 buddies dont think twice about heading out into the mojave desert at least twice a year for 4 or more days at a time. To tell you the truth, I think the 8 actually runs better out in "no mans land"

Probably bring radiator fluid as well. I see you have the t5 as well. Has it given you any issues on the trail? I just had mine rebuilt but, the rear bearing went out all the sudden. I took it back and they fixed it but makes me worried.

- Street Jeep for snow and ice, still on blocks in the driveway. '73 CJ5, 258 inline six, T18 tranny, Model 20 transfer case, Dana 30/44 w/ 4.27 ratio (soon to be 3.73), original Cutlas hubs, half-cab waiting to be installed. Daily driver is a 20-year-old Mazda pickup.
Yup, that was the idea behind buying an old Jeep. Something I can understand, maintain, and repair myself. And as it turns out, parts are everywhere.
For me, though, no man's land is principally snowy, icy highways and byways. (I was once stranded in a snowstorm in the middle of nowhere at -30 degrees. Carb ice, so I was able to continue my journey, but the experience opened my eyes.)
Fix what needs fixing before heading out, and keep some tools and parts under the seat. Extra clothing and some of those space-age body warmers under the other seat. Extra gloves and knit hats or earmuffs. A pee jar if you risk being stranded in traffic. Baby wipes cuz ya never know. Breakfast bars, individual applesauce cups, jerky and sardines wherever they'll fit. Chocolate bars. Kinda hard to keep water overnight in winter but V8 Fusion has survived near-zero temps this year. This is stuff that stays in the rig all the time.
Let a few folks know where you're going.
