Come on man, cough up...

Nicely done! :chug:

Some more after pics.

In the 3rd pic, I have the hi-lift jack in temporary position. The more I look at it the more I like it there. But it does interfere a little with the tail light. I wanted to build a couple pedestal brackets for the top of the spare tire carrier on back. Problem with that is they would interfere with the back hatch. So I might wind up after getting my winch bracket, I'll probably make the brackets to mount it over the fair lead of the winch. Bad thing about that is it will get any and all the grit and dirt from the road. It'll be good where it's at for now though. It's solid. I basically used I think it's what's left of one of the stock spare tire carrier brackets he has used for the CB antenna.

I would not run any trails with the jack mounted there.
Have you ever been stopped for the blocked lic. plate?

Yeh it's one snag away from tearing the tub up. That did cross my mind. It will be moved before any trail riding. I'm still planning on mounting it over the fair lead portion of the front end that was the original plan. The brackets will get welded to the top of the front bumper. Nice thing about inheriting a screwed up front bumper, you can't do much more damage than has already been done. Did you notice the huge cattle guard that was on the front end? He didn't drill the holes to mount it, he burned the holes with a torch. Scary looking bumper.

No haven't had the license plate blocked but have been pulled over for no front license plate though.:D

My Hi-Lift lays across the back, inside, near the tail-gate from right to left fender.
Never had the front plate on mine. Ca. law sayz I should.
Never been stopped for no front plate.
Last time I was stopped in the Jeep. The Deputy(close, family friend)was surprised my Jeep would go that fast........LOL

Well I've replaced a few parts running down a misfire issue. So no.cool stuff added until we get the AMC 304 running like a sewing maching. It's close. New distributor, new fuel tank sending unit, added quite a few grounding wires it was lacking. I did move the hi-lift to the front bumper. It lays across flat until the winch is bought and installed then it will either move inside or I'll build a mount for it on the front.

It doesn't take much crud/mud etc to jam up the Hi-lift innards. That's why I have it inside. ;)

That's a good reason to not have it out front. I was planning on a cover either way. I was also concerned with obstructing the headlamps also. It still may go on the spare tire carrier too. It would probably be an easier install there.anyway.

One other thing to keep in mind, when you start blocking off the front radiator area, you need a more efficient cooling system to keep from over heating. The electric fan conversion is well document on this forum. I would suggest it as an upgrade in the near future.

Did the electric fan before on another care. Actually a dual fan setup with thermo control. Worked great. Got all the stuff from a bone yard except the thermal control.

I wound up fabing it across the rear spare tire carrier. I just used a hi-lift mounting kit and added a couple stainless ubolts to mount. It's sturdy and I positioned it to where I can still open the hatch. So, I have a spare tire, two jerry cans and a jack now.

Ok. I am planning on getting an undercoating kit from Eastwood and undercoating the jeep. Then pull the seats out and use bedliner coating on the floor only. I do have some rust holes but the floors are still pretty solid. I want to fill the holes rather than cutting out the pans and replacing. This isn't a full out resto. I'm at odds of what to use to fill the holes. They are not all large. There are a couple maybe just smaller than a half dollar. Icd rather not use a body filler but a good tough sealer. I plan on puting some diamond plate insterts over the top of the front pans later. They will be glued or siliconed in place. I don't want any more holes than necessary. Any ideas on a good durable sealant?

The only way to keep the rust from spreading is to cut it out and replace with good metal. If you just try to seal and cover over it will rot out from under you. That's what a p.o. did on mine. I'm hopefully going to be able to start working on mine again soon but check out "Project Rot " on here to see what you can look forward to.

Oh I get it that's sound advice. This is a short term deal without getting deeply involved in restoration work. I know it won't last. But I can get it to last a while. When it gets too far gone, it'll get cut out and replaced. Just looking for gap control right now.
