Misc. 1981 CJ build question

I have been offered a 1981 CJ with 70,000 miles on the odometer. The engine has been changed from the 2.5 to the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l -6cyl. My question is if it came with the 2.5 engine, Will it automatically have been built with less capable running gear? ie, Transfer Case , axles? It has an automatic Transmission .

The entire drivetrain would be the same for all CJs in 81 except for the Transmission and engine options. A different gear ratio and Limited slip option could have been ordered also.
The diffs, brakes and Transfer Case is the same for all models.
The 4cyl GM 151 came with a TF904 auto and the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l with a TF999
