My PO didn't have the manifold heater hooked up and there are no switches in the manifold, all blocked off except the hoses. I want to hook the manifold heater back up to the wiring but can't seem to find a new intake manifold heater switch which I see is a hookup point for the relay on the wiring diagram with a green wire going to it. I have a temp gauge in the top of the head but thats a purple/wtracer and it works on the speedo. Anybody know where I can buy one of these manifold heater switches? I would sure appreciate it!

Thanks in advance
Kirk

Welcome. :chug:
Unfortunately there is no direct replacement switch and relay being produced for that item. You would have to find a used one or wire in a standard Bosch relay. It's not absolutely necessary to have the heater functioning but it wouldn't hurt on the cold Idaho mornings...

Yeah those winter mornings are the reason for me wanting to get that working again. I have everything I need except for that intake manifold heater switch that the green wire hooks up to. Maybe someone on this site has a good used one laying around somewhere.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Hey CJ what or where is this at location wise ? Is it the heater plate on the intake manifold ? On the bottom ?

The bottom one with the red wire is the heater, the heater switch is threaded into the side of the manifold between the Carb and firewall pointing towards the driver side fender. I will try to upload a photo of what I found online.

Let me grab another picture

I found a Painless Jeep CJ7 heater relay wiring kit # 30717 that has some great intructions explaining everything about the setup. It doesn't have the manifold heater switch but tells you what to buy. When I find one I will post it back here for anyone in need of one. If you want to read those instructions you can download them from the painless website under that part# 30717

I asked AI and it came up with this, called something different but it's made by crown who has a lot of Jeep parts. I thought I would share this for everyone.

The Crown Automotive J3242321 Early Fuel Evaporation (EFE) Switch acts as a temperature-sensitive controller for the EFE system on 1983-1995 Jeep models with AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l /2.5L engines. It activates the system to warm the intake charge, preventing fuel puddling, improving cold-start drivability, and reducing emissions during engine warm-up.
Complete Street Performance +1
Key Features and Functions:
  • Cold Start Assistance: Helps the engine run efficiently while cold by aiding in fuel vaporization.
  • Direct Fit Replacement: Designed for specific 1983-1995 Jeep models (CJ, YJ, XJ, MJ) to replace the OEM switch, ensuring proper EFE operation, notes ExtremeTerrain.com.
  • Durable Construction: Built with durable materials to handle harsh conditions in the engine bay.
  • OE Functionality: Matches the original factory functionality for easy, direct installation without modifications, says Summit Racing.

It is often called a "heater switch" for the intake manifold and is essential for maintaining proper fuel vaporization in older carbureted Jeep models,
