After considerable investigation, I've found a simple fix. FELPRO makes a gasket that is thick cork, with a rubber covering. Works like a dream. The part number is VS50244R

And the PCV valve is installed towards the radiator with the breather towards the firewall.

I've always used weather stripping adhesive to glue a cork gasket TO the valve cover. Use clothes pins to hold the cork in place while it dries OVERNIGHT. Wet the cork with oil then install the valve cover. The oil makes the cork swell and seal. Use a hand held nut driver to tighten the valve cover bolts. Easy does it......
