3 speed transmission swap?
Although the cases are obviously different between the T-150 and the T-18 the transmissions are basically the same as far as usability and service except the T-18 comes with the granny low. (2 different granny low gear ratios available, 4.01 & 6.32) As your jeep is a 1979 the bell housing is drilled and taped for both the Ford “butterfly” Transmission pattern (T-150 ) and the CJ T-18 . This lets you use either a CJ T-18 or a Ford T-18 for the transplant. Also the 1979 CJ frame is drilled and tapped for either the T-150 or the T-18 as well. For the T-150 the front bolt holes in the skid plate lines up with the front holes in the frame while for the T-18 the back holes in the skid plate line up with the back set of holes in the frame, leaving an extra set of holes at one end or the other.
