79 auto trans problem

Well two jeeps (80cj7 and 79cj7) become one in a frame off resto. Good body on the 80 and the AMC 304 quadra trak that I want on the 79. Two years later, $15,000 in parts and countless hours later I have my dream CJ almost done. Now to my problem. Driving to work at 3:00 in the morning I stop at a stop light then the jeep barely wants to go forward. Cop stops to ask "What's wrong?". I shut off the jeep to talk to him... now it won't start. Long middle deleted. It's back at home running (bad distributor) and was a quart low on Transmission fluid. I no longer have reverse or neutral just drive. Put it in reverse and it goes no where but won't roll even if pushed (like it's in park), in neutral it's in drive (shut off motor and it rolls) and drives are drives. Made sure it's not a linkage adjustment (removed rod and manually switched the trans). Although I've gone through almost every thing on this jeep the only thing I did to the trans was change the filter and fluid (Royal Purple Max). I'm broke now so a new trans is not an option. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
