First off I would like to have full width axles or legal width on my jeep. After research I've concluded that I can only use 74 -79 waggy axles with qtrac.

Are these full width axles that will bolt in.?

Second option is I have a 28 foot dodge motor home with a 360 , I think a 727 tranny, and the rear I'm not sure but I'm gonna say ton , ton and a half?

So... The bright idea is to steal all these parts and buy a 3/4 or 1 ton axle for the front with a Transfer Case out of the old dodge trucks, i think it's a np205 , but don't quote me.

Is this
A. Doable
B. a good choice for the rear, it has dually setup
C. Something I could drive on the street comfortably
D. Will Transmission work in this scenario.

A: Anything is doable, just depends how how hard you want to work and how much money you want to spend.

B: The axle will work, but not without heavy modification.

C: Here lies the real question. What are you wanting your jeep to do? Daily driver, but look cool? Hard core off road machine? You tell us! As a side note, all of the things you are suggesting are going toward a hard core off road machine, due to the modifications and money thst will need to be spent. The V8 motor, not a bad idea, little bit of money involved, but will work with your current setup. Axles and Transfer Case and Transmission , and, and......see where I'm going. Money!

D: The GM Tubohydromatic 400 Transmission will work with the engine but not everything else.

SUMMARY: What you have is a good setup for a daily driver and mild off roading. You can switch to a V8 if you want. Larger tires like 33s ok with a few suspension mods. But 1 ton axles and all that will cost you some coins. Rod

Full width axles are fricken wide. The tires are almost completely outside the fenders.

With dulies all 4 rear tires are outboard. Even the spring mounts need to be moved outside the frame rails.

Check out local laws. I don't think tires that stick that far out will be legal in Houston.

Thanx for the response. To verify yes it will be a street vehicle but not drove every day. Going for an older restored " daily driver" , so must be dependable first and foremost with the mudding, crawling as a bonus. Also the tougher the better

Like I stated I want full width axles however it gets done, I'm on a Limited budget so looking for cheapest way to get it done.

With the debate being cost,
1 ton setup I have motor, tranny, rear end, which is half the build for 0$ .

Or use waggy axles for a more direct bolt in,but must use certain years, due to qtrac Transfer Case .

Either way they would both need rebuilt

so is the price offset enough to use the ton setup for bragging rights mainly, or stop just dreaming that big.
Hence my handle naiveambition, I always know what I want I just usually underestimate what it takes to get there :shooter:

If I had to make a guess, I would bet a minimun of 2k for the conversion, then there is the cost of tires and wheels. Can you weld? This requires some serious welds. Also ne custom drive shafts. And the price keeps going up. Like I said in my first post, if you got the money, anything can be done. The question you have to ask though is how much will you really use it? For a once in awhile daily driver? Just asking the hard questions here. Rod
