'82 CJ7 California Smog

I recently purchased my first Jeep which is a 1982 CJ7 6 cylinder. It's bone stock but has been pretty much mothballed for the last 10 years. After doing a complete tune-up and cleaning the idle passages in the carb it will now idle on it's own without having to use the manual choke the previous owner installed since keep the butterfly closed was the only way to keep it running. The question I have is I need to get it smogged but after looking at the sticker under the hood with the emission information on it all it says is this vehicle meets FEDERAL smog regulations. What is involved in the smog test on federal vs CA vehicles?. I have heard that it's not as strict. I have the timing set, idle set, and the idle air mix screws turned in to where it starts to run rough then back out slightly to get a smooth idle
