tks everyone , it was the first jeep that I restored , so far so good , hope to get the soft top in soon , and got to finish the windshield and doors , work is never really done

starting on doors . going to fix rust and here is what I am working with and will show how I repair as I proceed , when I cut out on the hinge area I make sure that I dont cut to deep as you want to cut the outer skin only and used the piece to make a template and it looks good ,also there are some spot welds you have to drill out ,I had 3 ,now just need to weld and grind,,the window channel area is going to be a challenge but I think if I take my time I can make it look good,,had to cut out a good portion as the metal was seperateing in layers and you have to get all rust cut out

Looks good, doing the right thing!:chug:

I will be sure to keep up with this one as well...

started making some attempts on the window channel , I used a 1" square tube and cut one side off and then used a grinder with a cutting wheel and cut grooves were I wanted to make some bends , and got a pretty good start on the top surface which is the hardest but with a little welding and smoothing down I think it will look good , its hard to tell with these pictures but I even got the back edge bent around looks close to the real track and the weather seal should fit nicely , of course still far from finished

You need to take better pics I'm having a hard time seeing how you are doing this PLEASE :)

yea my camera was messing up and some didnt turn out , the biggest thing is were you need to make a bend is to use a cutting wheel to cut a groove in a nicely marked straight line and then it will bend easily in a vise or over a solid flat surface add some heat as needed , I will try and show some of that as I am far from done as I will still need to run a weld over the bent areas and grind down smooth to strengthen the areas I grooved , if you look at picture 3 you can see I bent one side of the square tube up ,right in that bend is were I cut a groove so it would bend easily , and its not a perfect match yet to the factory surface but I am going to run a weld down thru it and then grind it down to were it looks more like the outer surface of the channel
and still need to make the bottom part of the channel , the square plate metal I am using is not quite as thick of metal as the factory but very close and easy to make cuts and bends

So a good looking Jeep and a good looking Chally I love the blue and I love the six pack :chug:

have to put the doors off for a bit ,, got my new top in but have to paint the winshield so I can install it and drive the jeep some in the cold weather , so coated areas with por-15 and shot some primer today but had to order some more hardener before I can shoot the color

Awesome job! The Jeep looks great. You have given me some great fabrication ideas.

Thanks.

Bob

tks, yea it went pretty quick untill these small things I need to finish as my real job has me doing alot of overtime thru the winter so progress has slowed

Thanks, inspiring that you are working full time + and still getting things done...keep it up.

Rob:)

well got the windshield frame painted but haven't got the glass in yet , still need to do some wet sanding so its not on the jeep yet , put the roll bar cover pad on put I took the foam off the original pad and used as it was thicker and I think after some time in the sun will lay down even better , those new ones use a real thin pad and look bad to me so I like this better

you do some "darn" nice work there bud!
