I'm very close to buying a 73 CJ5 with a SBC (originally a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l ). No power steering.

I have a 1980 that has power steering and the 2.5L GM engine. I think I'm going to part that one out.

My question is: Will the steering box (power) from the '80' fit the '73'?

Finding bracketry for the engine should be no issue since it's a GM Saginaw pump.

Thanks.

It should fit. I got my first PS box from a 81 Camaro.

80 CJs went to a metric o-ring fitting. Pre 80 were flare fittings.

Take your old hoses to a NAPA store that makes hoses pump. They can set you up. Or get a metric fitting pump. You probally will need a different length than stock anyway.
