Build Thread Aussie CJ7 - 78

Build Thread Aussie CJ7 - 78
You must have missed this spoof to you under Merry Christmas thread...seeing as you are waiting on parts and all. :D

Bah ha ha ha .... Does it come with or without batteries ?? Ha ha ha ...
But yet so true :(

1. Ok so the flanges arrived for the headers and it was straight to work.
You'll see who ever did the previous exhaust shoved the pipe so far down the headers it was choking it up something wicked.
2. You'll see new flange to 2.5" will let it all flow a lot better.
3. Does anyone think the cap on the top of the exhaust paint tin was an accurate depiction of the true colour ??
4. I seem to put everything on and off a dozen times these days but I had to tap the flange as square as could before welding it on.
5. Well they look good ... but will they be reliable, or blow out in a few months .... Ahh, time will tell ??

Man, that is some quality work. I have stock exhaust but seeing those makes me want to get headers... Nice work on the flange...hopefully those goofy welds you manage will hold and you won't lose your muffler the next Joey you run over. :D

Like I keep saying - I'm not to worried about any mods in particular ... Cause there's a BUCKET LOAD of things that can fall off now !!! :D

Ok gents, to unlock the next stage of photo updates you'll need to answer this ...
What am I making now ??? :D :D :D

Something you will weld on after it gets cut out. Fuel tank holder?

This won't be too expensive Dear! That's what I keep saying. Over and over again.

Close !!! I've got to weld something to it ... But it bolts on and it's not a fuel tank holder :D :D

a mistake, if your not going to flip that over and use the straight edge for the long side.

I thought that too, then looked at the time stamp from original post. Four hours before I read it. In the famous words of Ray Stevens, "Don't look Ethel! But it was too late." I bet that metal has a big hole in it by now!

Ha ha ha ... Until you pointed it out I would never have noticed :wtf:
The crazy thing is I set out to do just that !! And until you pointed it out I realised I didn't ... You should have seen me scratching my head cutting out the reverse side ... and yep, still did it exactly as that side .... straight edge on the off cut ..

Ok...it's tomorrow in your neck of the woods and I don't see the pics...slacker.:D

Ha ha ha ... Just came in to have a rest ... Sick of grinding, lifting, checking, re-grinding, lifting, checking ...
Coffee time, and then it's back out into it.

Good news is just got a call from the Mrs at the post office who said brakes and gasket kit have arrived ... :D :D :D

The brakes and gaskets are here!! The brakes and gaskets are here!! Still waiting to see what it was you are fabricating amigo. :D

Ok so it was just the brakes that arrived ... AND .. I opened them up to see 7/8 rotors not 1 1/8 .. :( :( :(
It was a little deflating considering the shipping was almost as much as the items ...
Morris have been outstanding so far, so I'll have to see what they want to do from here ...

On the other hand,
Fist picture should be pretty obvious what's going on.
Spent all day on those and I still have more filing to do tomorrow morning.
Picture 4 should show you the little bit that helps to get the elongated holes. Just drill two holes and then join them ... Only the little fella doesn't like to play with 4mm much
Lastly - That's me ripping into the Jeep parts that arrived in the mail today !!

Somehow I pictured you a bit taller... :D. Man, sorry to hear the wrong size arrived...talking about getting the wind knocked out of you. However, I would be lying if I said I wasn't impressed by your fabricating skills...that is some quality work my friend. And now that you have it down I would like to order a set...Morris has free shipping...can you match them? :D. Seriously, it looks great.

Quite a price difference between those rotors too. I need some 7/8th rotors so maybe we can work something out. I also have HEAPS of spare CJ stuff in Brisbane (like a set of headers lol)

No reply yet from Morris - I'll PM you if I get stuck with them.
