Build Thread Aussie CJ7 - 78
Glad to see my daughter is not the only one who likes to wear her fathers' shoes!

She was still excited on the whole "unwrapping" presents and wanted to unwrap my presents.
Can't keep her out of my shoes - Cute thing is she lines up all the shoes around the doors :D
Also plays in the Jeep when I'm working in it. She calls it her red Jeep. "Not daddy's" she says .... WOMEN !! :D :D :D

Somehow I pictured you a bit taller... :D. Man, sorry to hear the wrong size arrived...talking about getting the wind knocked out of you. However, I would be lying if I said I wasn't impressed by your fabricating skills...that is some quality work my friend. And now that you have it down I would like to order a set...Morris has free shipping...can you match them? :D. Seriously, it looks great.

Thanks mate !! :chug:
What happens from here people will either "like" or "dislike" ....
I'll finish the roll bar, including over shoulder YJ seat belts throughout the whole thing, but it's a custom dash from there, that will be very different to the classic CJ dash .....

Also the rear bars of a TJ style cage COMPLETLY change the look of the Jeep .... I'm a MASSIVE fan but traditionalists may not like it ... ??

Long day and I hate playing with 4mm plate .... It's too thick !!
And lifting the bars in and out of the tub all day takes it's tole on ya back.
Center bar done ... I'm really happy with it, so now I'm not happy with the front.
So I'll probably look to bend up the front one again ...
Either way I'll push on with the front as a template (it's not welded in yet to the mounting brackets).
Just trying to source the distance from the end of the tub to the back of the rear bars on a YJ family bar, so I can mimic that distance, and still fit a YJ duster cover.

If that centre bar looks high I was just checking measurements.
I actually dropped it an inch after that.
She's only screwed in as the holes then become the pilot holes for the bigger bit to run through later.

Can't wait to see the final set up...much more important you have a good roll cage since you got no brakes.

Hey!!! Get back to work you lazy bludger!! :D Not seeing much happening on this thread. Don't just be wondering around in your _ick stickers...we have work to do!

How do you like my use of Australian slang...so I will be ready when I come visit. ;)

I think your use of Australian slang is very eloquent. They have a saying there that is similar to our "Bees Knees" that involves male ducks, but I won't interject that here!

Nice build BTW. Keep it up!

This won't be too expensive Dear! That's what I keep saying. Over and over again.

The Lincoln ran out of wire
So I got some this morning but the gasless is three times the price of regular wire :(
Anyways, I've just popped in for a little bit of encouragement (Jeep forums) and some H2O ... Dripping with sweat out there.
As per usual got about 12 things on the go so I'll post some photos tonight :D

Thanks fellas and Alpha that's not bad slang and yep, "Duck's cashews" gets used a bit around here !! :D

Well it must be time to call in my good friend Jimmy and push into the afternoon ...

Ok so the first picture you'll see I've been slowly piecing back the engine bay.
2. You'll note I've been making all sorts of brackets and clamps so that I can clean up the engine and stop any rubbing or rattling.
3. So know the heater hoses run clean in and you'll notice holes ready to go for the air con when installed.
4. Got the flash extended brake line to the rear fitted. I adjusted up the shoes and rear diff is ready to go bar some new oil .. :D
I'll just need to re-check those drums after stopping on the park brake a few times.
5. Front calipers primed and ready to go.

Really looking good amigo. Those brackets are sweet and it is really coming together. It looks like you did get the frame done...nice job.

Ha ha ha :D
Yeah, last coat on the drivers side mid frame in an hour or so.
Once dry it should be Transmission skid back on, rear drive-shaft, ect ...
She's all coming together, which means spare time has been looking at the body. A could extra bits of concern guaranteed once you remove your roll bar.

Also I've been right through the engine bay wiring, but it's silly posting photos really

See what I can get done today :D

I think it's funny that when I read your posts now I hear your accent in my head :D

Cranky, since his jeep is cactus he may want to throw a boomer on the Barbie or go looking for white pointers while we wait for him to yabber about his latest task. :D

Ha ha ha ... WHAT EVS MATES !!

So I decided that once I can roll this engine over again I'll video it JUST SO you can all hear me speak !! :D

It was a bit of a watching paint dry day ...

1. So you can see the beautiful frame that is under that disgusting tub !!
2. Brakes need TWO DAYS to dry ...
3. More painting of bits for no reason OTHER then aesthetics ..
4. Oil cooler in gloss black with the camera flash bouncing off.
And almost all of the tub holes filled to be cleaned up.

Not the most exciting time , but the results speak for themselves. That frame looks great. Im calculating how many wire wheels Im going to go through to get mine cleaned up.

Nice job on the frame....don't forget to bolt it to the body.:D where are you mounting that oil cooler? You staying away from those fires down there?

Lucky for us the fires were down south .. We've well and truly got the rain setting in up here ... so it will more then likely be 3 months of rain now :(

Thanks mate, and yeah would love to know how many I'm up to.
Make sure your covered up with those wire wheels. They fly apart and stick straight in ya like a miniature spear !!
Best story I've got was washing up to head out a couple weekends ago and found one sticking right out of my face .. Hadn't noticed it ??
Safety gear is a bit of a must.
