Bikini Top with Doors

Bikini Top with Doors
Yeah I was looking harder and dont see the Yj supports all the way back to the roll bar. Still seems like a interesting option for heavy rain. :)

When I originally found it I was looking for a way to protect my kids in the back from the Texas sun without a full top or family bar. It just happened to appear wider than the bikini, closing in that gap some above the door giving it a bonus.

Maybe it is like an ad for a big mac. They never quite look like that when you get it home.

No :censored:. Everything's that way now, isn't it?

Your quote can also apply to a 'morning after' during college.

Yes. And it has the right tailgate. All the things you do to make a Yj tub look like a Cj. It just looks like they left the Yj flares. I cant see any good reason to switch to Yj flares unless they were already there.

Maybe it is just the flares. Don't YJs have the gas tank on the driver side?

Can't argue that. Unless that is what Crown does when they mess up the orders for Scrambler flares and send us CJ7 flares. You CJ7 guys get the flat top flares. Nah. You are probably right. I can see the company selling aftermarket parts using a YJ tub swap on a photo spread jeep.

Ok. I took some pictures. Keep in mind that I have a CJ8 so I thin the rollbar might sit back a little bit further. Not sure though. Disclaimer: Your results may vary ;)

With my last Jeep, I thought it would be nice to save a few hundred bucks by buying a poor man's Softop (Bikini top, Tonneau cover, Windjammer).

It sucked sooo bad! Got rained on constantly. A bikini top was never designed to protect you from the elements, just from getting sunburned! :)

Agreed. I have a windjammer as well and put the two on once to try it out for a rainy day. I got really wet. Not a problem. But since my soft top was easier to put up and down than that combo, I never used the windjammer again.

I think you should just buy a rain coat :D

Who said I was expecting it to? :bang:

Wondering if I had soft doors for those occasions how much it would help keep my left side dry. I read that there is a 3" gap at the top and I know I'd still get wet but wondering how much it helps?

Dude, your question specifically asked, if a soft door/bikini top combo would keep you dry in the rain. Just parting off some of my first-hand personal experience.

I find it best, when someone says something that may be a negative remark, to assume that I have taken the remark out of context. I find that use of names like "douche, A-hole and pecker head" is frowned upon in this forum. I have witnessed such name calling resulting in a moderator or owner asking someone to leave and not return.

It is very difficult to communicate with this medium as there is nothing but the typed words of a person that may have trouble communicating in person.

remember boys, play nice!

For the kind of protection you are after, why not go with a full top with the windows removed or rolled up. You'd get coverage for the kids, less rain in the cab and a reduced chance of getting a sun burn (had to add that part just for the fun of it). A bikini top is good for what it's made for and little else. BTW love my bikini top, let it rain, let it blow let it bum the top of my head, it's a simple piece of barely tailored cloth, but I love it.

Me too. I know Im gonna get wet here and there but oh well. Bikini top from next weekend till September. :chug:

I never run my bikini. But since putting it on for the photo the other night, I have not taken it off. I am going to keep it on for a little bit and see how it goes. I know I do not like the windjammer. Too much effort to install without a real benefit for me.

I used to have a tiger top that went up and down quite easily. Now I have a soft half cab that needs to be left at home when I take it down. So I need to figure a way to deal with the sudden sprinkle n

Easy, just get wet, you won't really get very wet at all. Carry a towel and a rain coat. If you want to look really tough carry a roll of those contractors trash bags. Those things are huge and tough. When caught in the rain go poncho style. Cut a hole for your head and two for your arms. Then ride in comfort. If you want to feel rain proof tough smoke a cigar, when at a stop light glance at the other drivers, remove the cigar, spit on the ground, take a bug puff and drive on like Clint Eastwood. :)

I have been stowing a raincoat, two garbage bags and a couple of small towels in the Jeep for a number of years. The bags work great for when the seats get wet over night.

I can answer the question from experience

I live in SoCal and have run a bikini top system as my main top. I even had a full top and did not use it for years

with a bikini top, windjammer and uppers you can keep the wind and sun off of you very well, Rain is going get in through the cracks and you are going be uncomfy. The reason I put up with it was it does not rain much in SoCal. I also ran those neoprene seat covers, you are going want those with this type of set up

with out the windjammer you will get wet even in a mist, the water is going to whip around from the rear, a bikini and a uppers protects from the sun and cuts the wind down a lot

my preferred method, is the top, and a wind jammer with lowers for everyday, I add the uppers on cold days or if it is raining, I also keep a cab cover in the back and if parked and it looks like rain I put this over all the others to keep the insides dry till I get back. Several Jeeps and years of ownership have refined this. I do not know how well it would work in places it rains a lot however. And with CJs I think most any soft top leaks in the rain.
