Bikini Top with Doors

Bikini Top with Doors
And with CJs I think most any soft top leaks in the rain.

You bet it does, Baja, right under the soft top at the top of the windshield. Having opened my top to lay the glass down for dash gauges work, I noticed the channel, very nicely painted and with excellent screw holes, totally empty of any seal. Since I just put in a new lower seal, I'm gonna strip a piece off the old one to fit the top channel, and stick it in with Plumbers' Goop. So I will jettison one towel, and only keep the one to dry the windshield from blow-around spume, the one to wipe off the seat covers, and the one to dry my face when somebody splashes me passing the other way.

Can't drive open cockpit in a Chebby, Ford, Beamer or Mississippi Mercedes (Honda Accord). What's not to like?

Easy, just get wet, you won't really get very wet at all. Carry a towel and a rain coat. If you want to look really tough carry a roll of those contractors trash bags. Those things are huge and tough. When caught in the rain go poncho style. Cut a hole for your head and two for your arms. Then ride in comfort. If you want to feel rain proof tough smoke a cigar, when at a stop light glance at the other drivers, remove the cigar, spit on the ground, take a bug puff and drive on like Clint Eastwood. :)

So I left for work this morning with the bikini top still on. But no doors. I had to run out at lunch. And it is now raining pretty well. Soooo when I got to the post office, I pulled the coat out of the console and put it on. Got back into the jeep for a run to Taco Bell. The driving was fine, but I was getting pretty wet in the drive through line. Only my left leg really got wet. I did get some looks. :)

:) and you looked right back...

I have to admit that we don't get near the rain the rest of the country gets, so we are a little spoiled.

Not as dry as you but a close second. A rain event here is very seldom as well so even the bikini top stays in the back most of the time until around mid-June when the sun kicks into high gear.

In my search for more about the Safari top we were discussing previously, I found this and now I want one. I'm in contact with the guy who makes them but he's not able to create one for a CJ7 because he doesn't have one around him. Anyone with a 7 who lives near Englewood, CO that could swing by and let him take measurements?

that top is pretty nice. rear looks like it zips out too

For an extra $50 he will include a full rear window.

I like that. I wanted one for my 8. But decided on a half cab soft top instead.

Is there hardware or is it just the windshield channel and the snaps? Wondering about the door area really. Not that it would have to keep all if the rain out.

'Poncho Top'. Frameless.

Neuner, could you please post the company that you found that makes the fastback type top in the pic you posted?

this is kind of interesting, do you have a web site/e-mail for this guy?? How many Yankee dollars are we talking about? is this supported by the roll bar or a frame of some sort?

I like this, it needs to be white and have triangle windows in the sides. Still a bit claustrophobic as it is. kind of defeats the purpose on that count. But it is a killer concept!

I like it! I wonder if he will be able to do an intermediate any time soon.

Alright - so he's appreciating the interest and if you especially own a CJ5 and are interested, contact him.

Now we just got to get someone local with a CJ7 to swing by and let him take measurements. Hopefully they would have the standard button hole layout.

This may be off topic, so I apologize in advance. But, is that full length bikini top actually made? I've got 2 little girls who could benefit from the extra sun protection.

If so, are they worth a damn? I think I found one Rugged Ridge makes. It comes with a rear "bow" anyone with experience with this?

Not sure if it's still made. Lost my old link and reference.

If not, I was just going to buy a bikini top for a wrangler and build my own bracket. Shouldn't be hard.
