Looking for some ideas or pictures of where you have mounted a cb in your CJ7 . I have the under dash A/C so I cant mount it there also I do not have the full roll bar so I cant mount it there either. I was seriously thinking about inside the factory console.

I think the coolest place is above the rear view mirror attached to the front roll cage bar to a spreader bar, mine is mounted under the dash in the center which is fine. Place the mike where both driver and front passenger get at it easily. Inside a locking console, would be good for security. When with a group, I would suggest a short antenna and not a steel whip.

Strange, I was looking at CBs and mounting options just y'day. I'm looking for an old school one.

Where ever you decide, run a dedicated positive and negative power wire to the radio, also fuse both of them with a 10 amp fuse. Also remember you'll have to run the antenna coax to it.

:agree:

You will also want a filter on the POS(+)wire at the back of the radio to cut RFI that's picked up from the ign.
Also a dedicated GND(-)from the radio chassis to the Jeep's body helps to reduce RFI.

the cheapest radio you can buy with an aux speaker.

I forgot to add, that I totally agree about the need for a good aux speaker. No matter what radio you choose.

NICE-I like the fact it has a RF gain.
I would look for a unit that also has a switchable ANL(automatic noise limiter)to help cut bleed over and RFI.

I put a uniden bearcat in mine in the locking center console...just the $100 dollar cheapy box. It's not a tuffy box but it keeps honest folks honest and I'm happy with the radio. I'd agree on the external speaker for sure and ya might as well add a PA horn while your at it.
