CJ7 Exhaust System Discovery

I spent today doing a new exhaust system in the CJ7 I'm building for my wife. As you know, the front hanger( in front of muffler) is NA. Using one of the replacement single strap hangers is not a great idea. I found the a 2 strap hanger used in 1946-1957 FORD cars is a near exact replacement for the no longer available OEM part. These are readily available both NOS and repro. And as an added, they really hold everything up nice and tight. See photo attached.

Very nice looking chassis and Engine. Good Job! You might want to check the clearance with the tail pipe and the rear tires. It's hard to tell from the picture how much clearance you will have. I especially like the change of color with the TC.

Thanks, yes, as you can see, no rear axle yet,(Dana 44 ) it's being rebuilt. I left the last U bolt loose so I can re-orient the pipe as needed. I'll be using Geolander 235's with 15x7" aluminum wheels.

Thanks, I was going to make one from stainless and fasten it to the bottom of the floor, like most cars do. I assume that will be okay?

You might take a look at DEI products. They specialize in heat deflection.

Be best to attach that shield above the 'cat' via u-bolt clamps. Then you won't be drilling holes in the floor pan.
