Trying to see how a front Dana 44 will mount in my 1980 CJ7 . Currently has a Dana 30 . Appears the perches are 2' off and pumpkin seems to be in the way of moving perch to the proper mounting location. Do I need to get the axle tubes cut down and replace axles? Im new to Jeeps. Any info would be appreciated.

What is the 44 out of?
You have the choice of either cutting the long side (or both) or if you want to use it full width you can outboard your springs.
It really depends of how wide you want to end up.

Appears it is out of a K5 Blazer. Im being told it is a "Big knuckle 44". My neighbor is telling me easiest way is to re locate leaf spring brackets. Is there A kit I can buy or do I have to make them out of flat metal?

here's one example you can buy Full Width Axle Kits - Mountain Off Road Enterprises Notice this kit gives you SRS also which you may not want (it was the first one I found). There are other companies that make kits.
That axle is going to be a lot wider than what you have now. Unless that's what your looking for you might want to think about narrowing it.
