What's up guys , new to the website , I have a dj5d postal that I'm turning into a lightly used offroad jeep, to go down mostly flat dirt roads and a few hills, I have a 2.5" lift , 33" tires, and a 3 speed 727 Transmission , the axle is a narrow track Dana 44 , Limited slip, with stock 3.07 gears , my question is this: will 3.91 gears fit the carrier? Any advice is appreciated ,

Welcome to the site.

The break point on the 44 is .... goodness I don't quite remember. It's either 3.54 or 3.73, either way you are going to need a different carrier. As these things go carriers aren't overly expensive. It's setting up the gears that gets expensive.

The break per Currie Enterprises is 3.73 down and 3.92 up so not sure about your 3.91 ratio. Is that correct number ?
You can always swap or sell old part. mike

3:91 is an odd-ball for sure.

The ratio I have in the axle is the 3.07 , the tires that were on the jeep were about 24 inches tall, I had a cruizing speed of about 60mph , I have the v6 AMC 232 i6 , with the 727 torqueflite , with the 33 inch tires I just want to see what your opinions are for a decent gear set up ... the jeeps main use will be to drive 10 miles to and from work maybe twice a week , and just go places a stock truck can't go to practice my second amendment rights , I would like to keep the cruizing speed around 55-60 and I can't find the info I need on the Internet for the setup I have and need some people with some jeep experience to help me , thanks in advance

just use a thick ring gear

bzahler nailed it. Buy the "Thick" gears. They are designed for this exact scenario.

Thanks guys this is a big help hearing it from actual jeep people and not just info on a parts sales website , I'll take a look at the "thick gears" , thanks again

If the 3.91 gears are used I'm thinking they came from a newer grand cherokee.
