Does a 2150 need a return fuel line???

Does a 2150 need a return fuel line???

I just purchased a 2150 and the seller (ebay) gave me a full description on how to install.
He also said a return line wasn't necessary???

Is this True??

I've got a 2100 and have one, but only because I found the correct fuel filter that has the return line. Before I changed the filter, it only had a single outlet, which worked just fine.

As I understood it the return line on a carbureted engine was to prevent "vapor lock" .At least on a jeep because I don't recall any passenger cars from the 60's using one. Maybe someone that is knowledgable on this

I have the return line on My 2150 and it works fine. I wont say it is needed, just that it does not hurt.

This is what I have heard also, that it keeps the fuel cool so it doesn't vapor lock.

I always use one.. The the 2150 came stock on a lot of FSJ's and they all had return lines.. Fwiw.

The Motorcraft/Autolite 2100 or 2150 carburetor does not require a vapor return line. Your CJ's fuel system was designed with a vapor return line though.

If you're going to get rid of the vapor return line you need to ensure that you've correctly sealed off all of the vapor return lines on both the charcoal canister and the gas tank itself.

IMHO, it's just easier to run a stock CJ fuel filter and use the vapor return line.
