Our 2 week spring Jeep project has, as usual, turned into a 2 months and counting project.
As I have stated in our build thread, we are changing the T-18 long shaft that came out of a J truck, to the short shaft T18 that belongs in the Jeep. This means that we will need different drive shafts, and will have to install pinion angle shims backwards to achieve proper driveshaft slope. So I have been thinking, since I have to make a new crossmember, I might as well make it to provide maximum belly clearance. Previously, the driveline down angle was around 6 degrees. I am thinking of raising the back of the Transfer Case so that the driveline down angle is around 2 or 3 degrees down. That will give me an additional 1 to 2 inches of clearance.
Opinions? Pros / Cons?
I don't really see any problems doing this since our CJ's are on much greater angles up and down when we are off road with them.

I dont see a problem with it as long as your pinion angles are good. I shoved my NV4500 as far up as I could into my tub and will have 3 inch drop belly pan on mine.
