Yes you should be able to install with out taking it out, you may need to lower it a few inches to gain clearance. When you have 2 shifters they control the front and rear axles independently of each other which is useful for certain trail maneuvers or if you break a drive shaft you can drive out in front wheel drive

I installed my twin stick with the Transfer Case in the jeep, kinda tight working space but you can do it.

I dropped my Transfer Case built the twin shifters and put it back in just two days. I'd have to say it was much easier with it sitting on my garage floor.

Yes it's easy to do without dropping the case. That's the best/easiest way to do it.
