Build Thread Got my jeep today!!!!

UPS visit + two days off = work done on the jeep. What a pain in the butt spot welds are. Nothing like drilling out rivets on an aircraft. Started on the right side tub panel.

Are those new side panels weld on? i have been thing about trying some of those

I can't see any other way to install them. They are pretty thick metal and easy mig welding. I started on the left side today but it just gets dark too quick now. I have to make new angles to replace my rusted ones and I'm riveting those in. They will be covered by bed liner and carpet. I'm shooting 3/16 rivets in them. Then I'm welding the side to the angles from the back side. I love the right side with it's smooth finish no dents or dings.

Almost started crying, I unwrapped my left side and it had two "bends" in it. One running verticle right at the "P" in jeep, The other running verticle at the rear of the door/front of the wheel well. Fortunatly they are not creases. I gota go to Mississippi tomorrow and have my son for his 18th birthday so no worky on the jeepy for the next couple days.

are the bends going to be noticeable after instillation? id be upset too

After a quick jaunt down to Mississippi and the rearend going out in my truck 2 hours from Texarkana, an overnight stay in a holiday in. $1200 later It's back at the jeep. I got the bent drivers side repair panel clamped in place. I'm gonna try and take off at lunch tomorrow to come home and get all the welding done.

Tried to get off at lunch but no good. Started on the back repairing the tire holder holes.

I picked that up today. My god all the bolts. I don't have to worry bout coming home to a wet jeep. Just something about water and welding :)

how much did it cost you if you dont mind me asking. I could use one of those

I'm back at it full steam ahead.........

I would never have thought that it would have been somewhat warmer. Plus there is no wind to blow the gas away from the mig welder. Plus I don't have to pick everything up when I quit for the day. I sure do miss my 20X40 shop, but oh well I'll make do with this. Got both sides welded and am gonna finish up the tire carrier damage to the body. I have the repairs ready to go along with the beefup plates. Just glad to be rollin along with this. Go ahead and rain now!!!!

Nice setup. we all do what we can with what we got. Remember that that tint keeping rain and shine out might kill the grass in that spot... then again the jeep is more important :D
