Headers Question(s)

Hello to everyone here....

I am a newbie to this forum,
Firstly I want to say THANK YOU to the administrators for accepting me to the forum.

I joined because I am breaking out my 73 CJ5 out of "mothballs" which i have owned sine 1984. Last used it in 2001.

It currently has fender well headers that I want to change out to either stock exhaust manifolds, or shorty headers.

I did find a shorty at Summit made by Patriot Exhaust, "Clippster Headers"
Does anyone have experience with these? I am leaning toward these because the lack of quality original manifolds and I have been told the new ones are junk and are prone to cracking. Also looking at the Tri Y's.

Welcome from Orygun , can't help on the header question but thought I would suggest some gasket that I discovered a couple years ago.
REM-FLEX is the brand name and they make gaskets for about anything plus collector gaskets.Reusable, don't crack or break,don't leak. Sound to good to be true?? Check them out. Post some pics of that Jeep. I bought a 1973 CJ5 new, it had AMC 232 i6 6 banger w/t 14 tranny ,plain jane .mike

Not a huge header fan for stock motors personally...but that's me - this is you. Under hood heat is the biggest reason I'm not a fan on these Jeeps, especially older CJ's with AMC 304 's. You can wrap them and cut WAY down on the heat, but if they get wet I've heard of premature rust issues. Stock manifolds should actually not be to hard to find. I've certainly seen them often on Craigslist / eBay.

Give these guys a try.
I had headers on my 79 CJ7 w/AMC 304 and they rubbed on the frame. I then ordered some Omix ADA stock manifolds, and the studs were way off. Then I found these guys:

If you don't find what you need on their eBay store, call them, they have exhaust manifolds for just about everything, and they're made in the USA.
I ordered a set, and they went on just like OEM. Prices are reasonable too.
