How do I? I have a 1969 CJ-5 that the ignition switch keeps rotating in the dash. How do I fix that?
HolyThe ignition bazel has a slot. The ignition switch has a small tab that slides into the bazel slot, Everything is held tight and in place by a compressed spring. The spring could be worn which causes the bezel and switch to move.
Hold the bezel and compress the spring by pushing the switch towards the dash, while pushing it in turn left to slide the tab out of the bezel slot. You could try to add a couple washers to help the spring hold tight. Hope this helps.
. It's @Posi So long...It has, hope all is well with you.Holy. It's @Posi So long...
I decided to put a push button start in the system. Any recommendations?
Thanks, I prefer the latter solution. Seems to me the IGN output on the keyed ignition switch is the 12V hot of choice. That would make the push button only active with the key on.Simplest wiring. Take the starter wire off of the current ignition switch and connect it to one terminal on the push button switch.
Tap into the hot (+12v) wire going to the current ignition switch and connect to the other terminal on the push button. Be aware that keeps the push button switch always able to turn over the engine but it will not be able to start because the current ignition switch is not on.
To make the push button active only when the ignition switch is on, instead of the +12v feed being hot all the time find which wire on the current ignition switch that is hot in the on position and tap into that wire for the +12v to the push button switch.
