That’s great advice. I’m not sure about the distributor, but the carb is a Weber. It is actually running well. It just smells like gas vapors after a couple of minutes. There is also a little whistle to the engine sound. I feel like I’m missing something with the exhaust.

That look a lot better than mine.
my issues with hoses

I'd like to get the Jeep running properly so I can at least know how it's supposed to go. Will the video help? I just want to get the exhaust smell out of the passenger area.

Most of that is all EGR and emissions related. If you're state doesn't require emissions get rid of it all. The exhaust parts I believe are part of the factory pre heat for cold start ups. None of those components are needed.

Id replace your distributor as well and put in a GM HEI

My jeep also had gas smell. My purge solenoid wasn't connected. The 2 hoses coming out of the solenoid, I "Y" it together. Then added a anti rollover check valve to it . The smell is gone. Or could be your carb. is running too rich. Hope this helps.

Don't they all? I thought that came as a standard factory option [emoji1787]
Nope only on ultra rare and highly valuable Jeep editions and if you have one take special care to restore it to maximize your return....

Get the compatible MSD distributor. Missing one of the big benefits of the new holly projection EFI which is the Tim is tied to the computer and it will self tune the fuel map. It will also optimize the timing.
I put mine in a couple years ago and love it.
I had the old first generation projection and changed it out to the new style.

I'm not a fan of msd. I'm still running my HEI with my sniper problem free. However the hyper spark that Holley sells I've heard a lot of good things about
