GOOD NEWS first.
The weather came out of the Artic Sub Zeros! Started Jeep Soup.

Jeep Soup is running like a Sewing Machine. Really quiet, and NO lifter noise. STARTED Easily, with minor Carb Adjustments. !!

Well, SUMS a BISCUITS !!!!

I "Disturbed" 2 head bolt nuts to remove the Air Cleaner Tube crossing over the engine to remove the Manifold.

I have a weeping antifreeze leak at the head gasket by these two head bolts. Cranked them down to No Reprieve !!

Oh Happy Happy Joy Joy, I get to replace a Head Gasket.

Yesterday was Perfect Weather for a Long Shake Down Run.
Started well, I will have to get a feel for the Rebuild Carb. I don't have to Pump the Gas Pedal repeatedly. Just choke it, step on the pedal once, Crank.....

Had a Fun Drive on my 5 mile Local Road test route.
Was a little concerned about smells, but it just was sealants, dripped antifreeze, greasy finger prints, burning off the exhaust manifold and new manifold gaskets curing.
So I braved a Longer Trip.
Only thing I will need to fix is a Stronger Throttle Return Spring.
Running at a Nice 170° F at 50-55 mph. (Ambient Temp 60° F)
And Excellent Vacuum....

I was final adjusting the ignition timing when I took the picture.
Hence the slightest twitching needle. My Ancient Timing light has a Direct Connection Spark Plug Pickup, which is like 95% good.....

Also the CB radio SWR was Right On! Surprise.....no antenna adjustments !

Wooohooo, sounds like a good time. Weather here today is great too. Should have taken a video so we could see the shake down run.
