Hello. I have a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l with nutter bypass and a motorcraft 2150 carb. Since doing it about 4 yrs ago when I stomp in gas it bogs down and backfires through the carb. Lately it is running super rich. Plugs and wires are new and timing is set at 9 mixture screws are at 1.5 turns. I hook up a vacuum gauge and have plenty of vacuum. When I turn the screws it does nothing on the gauge. As far as I can tell I dont have a leak. I have been messing with this for awhile and am at a loss. It wants to die under a load at low rpms. I was told the jets might be too big but it has only gotten worse recently.

Bad power valve and check the float level. Keep an eye on the spark plug burn to check richness. After that try smaller jets.
