Build Thread My Cj-8 build thread
I was thinking about just painting mine, but I'll probably wait until I need tires and do it then. I hate masking the tires:rolleyes:

I just got an e-mail from the guy with the wheels. He took them outta the garage and put them on the back porch and was going to clean them up. Some :censored: :censored: stole them off his porch.

Wow, not to many vehicles made in this century can run 5 on 5 1/2's.:(

That :censored: ing sucks Pete.

P.S. I can't get to my photobucket account from work or I'd have a great smiley for this too.

Yes it does suck. As far as 5 on 5 1/2 he thinks it might have been a scrap metal theif and is going to check local scrap yards. Doubt he'll get anywhere but its worth a shot.

With all that said and done this still made me lol. :D

Sorry to hear it Pete :(

Finally ran across another set of wheels. I think these will look pretty cool cleaned up and slapped on the Scrambler.

I freaking hate you Pete smiley-finger002.png

I've been looking for a set of hurricane, or vector or turbine or whatever you want to call them, wheels for the Golden Eagle for more than a year now. I want to paint insides the same gold color as the factory rims. I'm freaking jealous, good find man thumbsup.png

I love those wheels. I have a set from one of my old Dodge pick ups sitting in storage. One of these days I'm going to have them media blasted and use them. Good choice bro!

Thank you very much. :D Im gonna do the same. The textured areas all black and Im gonna polish the rest.

Wow I really had to dig to revive this thread. :D The Scrambler was my daily driver all winter. Other than the windshield wiper linkage breaking 2 different times there werent any real issues. I got to use her as the mini truck while grabbing a washer , dryer and California King mattress. Im gonna miss that option of the Jeep the most.

This year she gets the full soft top and all three rows of seating. This is the family Jeep now. Considering Vicki wants to be behind the wheel now there are other things Im going to be working on. Probably not gonna be too popular but I'll be doing an automatic conversion from the current T-176 . Power steering is also coming. The above mentioned Turbine style wheels will be added.

Ive started by grabbing up some auto driveshafts from another CJ8 . Next I'll be looking for a rotted out 80s CJ7 or CJ5 with a good drivetrain. That way I'll have all the little misc. B.S. for the auto conversion. I'll chronicle everything here with pics for those who want to follow. :chug:

While Im waiting on a bundle of parts for the CJ7 I figured Id pass the time by getting the wheels painted.

Heres what I started with:

After a trip to the car wash I unvieled my secret weapon. I hate taping stuff off and tedious junk like that. Viki always steps in for that stuff and I love her for it. Its always nice to have someone to pass your work on errr... I mean enjoy the Jeep projects with. :D

The great thing is she does good work and does it on the cheap.

I got a couple coats on before it got dark and I'll finish them today and post the unmasked final pics. Heres up to last nite.

cant wait to see the rims when they are done.

I wont call them done but here they are blacked out. I wanna take some aluminum polish and clean up the other areas. Heres the two pics together for a comparison .

BTW, I'm still trying to find a set of those wheels for myself furious3.png

I had kinda forgotten about those wheels as they made the migration from the front of the shed to the rear. Then I ran over a screw somewhere and flattened one of the tires on the Scrambler. Heres my awesome dry rotted 235 / 75 /15 spare.

Id love to have a nice set of those wheels. Their the Laredo wheels that are tapped for the Jeep insignia center caps. I have a set of 5 but the chrome is all peeled. They usually garner a pretty steep price in good condition.

Well Im 12 hrs all week , but I got a couple parts. Itty bitty stuff for the Scrambler and front end stuff for the Salvage CJ7 . Cosmetic stuff for the Scrambler and the old stuff went to the CJ7 mostly.
