right now all i need is a set of good doors and a paint job and the body is done

as for getting it running i need exhaust, finish the wiring and get the computer, custom drive lines, and a battery

im not that far behind you but i give it at least another year before she is complete to where I think she is done

Oh and the big thing im dealling with now is i cant get 40 inch tires
so i will bask in your glory of yours actually rolling and you being happy :p

any pics yet of the finished rims?

The 3-3's have caught up to me. Just been too tired after work. I'm off all next week though so look for some things to happen. I'm looking at giving them a good polish this weekend. Probably get the tires mounted on them sometime around the middle of next week. I did post a pick of them with them blacked out in case you missed it.

After a bit of elbow grease with a Scotch Brite I got a little closer to the finished wheel. This part of the project will wear your arms out. ;)

For you guys with the keen eyes you'll notice two of the "spokes" are a bit funky looking. I left those undone for the comparision shot below. In it you can see the junk thats big giving my arms a workout while removing. These wheels use a short shank lugnut with washers. I cant budge the crud aroung the lug holes by hand. Still havent come up with what to do there. The area where the wheel weights were is also troublesome.

After Im done cleaning them up I'll hit them up with some polish. Not sure how much of a difference it will make after the Scotch Brite treatment other than smoothing it out a bit and adding a little protection. This should do nicely.

Oh boy almost 3 months since the last update. :( The good news is Im gathering parts and will have a garage in about 2 weeks. So far Ive grabbed 90% of the parts needed for the power steering , a TF999 auto Transmission , the correct driveshafts , a tilt auto column and I'll be on the phone in a few minutes setting up a set of wide trac axles with 3.54 gears. That will be a vast improvement over the 2.72 that are in it now. :chug:

Ahh 2 months later. Honestly since moving in the house its been more about painting and plumbing than Transmission swaps and tear downs. The good news is Ive finally gotten into the garage a bit. Look for a total face lift of the Salvage CJ7 soon.

In order to get that accomplished I have to revive the Scrambler a bit. The inspection ran out last month and its time to get it roadworthy again. I hate to admit it but I neglected the CJ8 quite a bit after making the CJ7 my daily driver. Ive talked about the ball joints its needed for months. Add to that a carb I could never get right , multiple leaks and creaks and moans seemingly coming from everywhere. Its time to due some well overdue maintinence on her.

I'll post some pics of the work Ive got done over the next few days. Having some picture issues. :(

Ok lets see if my picture issue is solved. First and formost I finally get to use the garage. :D

Ok looks like my picture issues are resolved. An automatic Transmission conversion is on the horizon and for that I ended up buying this :

Shes got just a bit of rust. Anyway the Jeep moved under its own power to its last resting spot before the front clip was removed. $400 delivered to my door.

Along with the auto Transmission , steering colum and linkage I'll need came some bonus parts for the Scrambler. Power brakes and power steering will be welcomed options.

For now I need to get the Scrambler up and running well enough to give the Salvage CJ7 a much needed face lift. There are a few things that need to be adressed.

#1 is the carb. I admit it. I just dont have the knack to get a carb rebuilt or set up right. Ive tried over and over with different carbs and just havent had any luck. I bit the bullet and bought this for $160 off Ebay:

Now that is a Motorcraft 2150 carb. I have the adapter plate and such already. The 2150 doesnt have the vacuum port on the rear of the carb but that wont matter now that I haave the power brake booster. While Im in there its time to clean up some of this emission system mess under the hood.

The Scrambler also has developed a pretty good oil leak from the valve cover as you can see. None of the factory retaining nuts were on the studs and two of the studs were replaced with bolts. I stold three from the parts Cj and tightened the front bolt down for now and will see were that leaves me.

without the big vacuum port on the back, where do you hook the PCV??

Heres a pile of junk Ive pulled from the engine compartment:

You can see in the previous post how much clutter has been removed from the engine compartment already. Hopefully I'll be getting a little more done during the week.

From what Ive read so far it'll be connected using a tee from the power brake booster.

and where is that vacuum coming from?? It has to tie into the intake someplace.

From what Ive read so far it'll be connected using a tee from the power brake booster.

I ask because I have an older 2100 with no large vacuum port. I think I pulled it from a galaxy that must have had a blow by tube rather than a PCV. I think I can drill the carb base for a barbed connector but if there is something I am not understanding (quite possible) this seems like a good place to discuss it.
Heaven forbid I should hijack a thread.:D
