Build Thread My Cj-8 build thread
Sure does right below the carb itself. Heres a pic I just took from the Parts Cj
and where is that vacuum coming from?? It has to tie into the intake someplace.

 That doesnt happen around here. If you look at the pic with my emmision stuff removed right below the carb adapter plate you'll see where mine was plugged due to not having power brakes.
Heaven forbid I should hijack a thread.:D

that should work. :D

I think you need a bit more return spring on the throttle, what you have won't support your weight.

Ok. Im not responsible for what the previous owner of a parts vehicle did though. :D
that should work. :D

Wow, go wide open throttle and then the springs interlace into each other and then you have a carb that won't close. That would be scary.

I never thought of that, that would be bad.

That is a great point. I'll be sure to post a pic of the bracket Im making for my return spring. You shouldnt need multiple return springs in the first place.

Got a bit of garage time today. I am loving it. So here I will show off my mad fabrication skills yet again.

All joking aside though Kane brought up a great point. Even though it was just on a parts vehicle I bought if you see something unsafe in any of my threads dont hesitate to enlighten me. I may not know everything :D

Anyway heres my easy solution for my 2150 setup. 1 piece of flat stock with 2 holes drilled in it and a bend. Nice and simple like a Cj should be. The carb fired up great and ran alot smoother than my previous one. I'll let you know what I think of it after I drive it around a little sometime next week. You can also see in this pic the port I used for the Pcv valve. I'll add a "T" when I convert to power brakes.

I always run multiple return springs, but I use a properly made set. They are actually required by many race sanctioning bodies.

Another good point , especially for higher horsepower situations. Great illustration to show the proper way for 2 springs. Summit? With my final set up I have to change it due to the power brakes and auto anyway.

Heres a pile of junk Ive pulled from the engine compartment:

You can see in the previous post how much clutter has been removed from the engine compartment already. Hopefully I'll be getting a little more done during the week.

Don't just through that stuff in the junk pile Pete, I sold all of mine on Ebay for $100. There's always some poor stiff out in Kalifornia looking for smog stuff to make his CJ legal 2thumbsup.png

I actually run this exact double spring setup on my carb Pete, I think they're a whole $6 or something like that from Summit :chug:

2 of the tubes broke when I removed it. It'll lay around a little till I get sick of it , then I'll probably post it somewhere

I never really put that much thought into carb return springs but it really does make alot of sense to run a good dual spring set up. Thanx everyone.

yea sumit and jegs both sell them. It's a safty thing incase one breaks, I ran them when I had a carb.

That carb looks like it belongs there. nice little upgrade. I run the double spring set up from Summit also. they are nice light pull but work well and its nice to have the insurance if one breaks.

I had the spring fall off the carb on my old chevy that I had. The pedal fell to the floor, and the truck stayed at idle. Enough to scare the :dung: outta me though.

Thanx for setting me straight guys. Dual carb return spring from Summit it will be then

here is mine

i have a spring setup like that summit one. its just the springs.

Im still messing with the linkage a little. Heres a shot of how the cable comes in at a straight shot. Im going to switch the ball end that the cable attaches to to make it point left instead of right. This will make for a nice smooth operation.

The clutch on the Scrambler has been less than desirable for a little while. I wasnt gonna mess with it since Im going with an auto but I figured Id adjust it out till then. I'll show you the scary pics of what I found as soon as the new parts come in.
