Bah, that'll buff out...:D

Ain't nothing a case of liquid bread and an extensive vocabulary couldn't fix!

Lol well alright then. Time will tell :D

Not having much luck with a welder. While I know I'm going to learn how to weld this isn't the project to start with. I've been floating the $500 mark but looks like I'm going to have to take it to a shop. I'll decide within the next week cause I just don't want to sit on this anymore.

Go to the PowerNation web site and watch the welding tech stuff. It was on Extreme 4x4. Ian made the videos. Good stuff to help get started. Also welding is something you have to practice over and over. I taught myself - you can too!

I plan on it , just not on this project at least not this part. The sheet metal on the truck project will be my most likely start.

Well finally getting it to the shop. Here's a quick shot of my ghetto gas tank. I'm going about 5 miles so hopefully the frame holds out. I'm adding an upgrade to this frame so I ll post a little more after I get back

In that position, have a check on the brake lines before departing. Going by the look of the frame, brake lines can't be too far behind, unless you already replaced them.

And PLEASE don't run into the back of anybody. That could really be an "Oh :dung: !" moment.

lol that must have been an interesting drive :chug:

They actually aren't too bad when compared to the frame. :)

Yeah I really wanted to swap the leaky gas tank out before taking it up there but time didn't allow.

It was. The brake lines were fine, the brakes themselves not so much. Definitely have to go through the whole system. The clutch is the other real issue. It has to be all the way to the floor to engage. I might be able to adjust it a bit but looks like a new one needs ordered soon.

Got a call from the shop saying "Come on up , I wanna show you something ". Never a sentence I want to hear. Well what he did show me were a couple more spots in the frame that were going to need attention later on. He said instead of chasing it around let's replace the whole rear frame section. I'm in agreement. I said I was going to save this Cj so that's that.

The ride to the shop brought all the memories of Cjs of this era flooding back. A sputtering CarterBBD, and horrific 2.72 gears turning the equally crappie 2 piece axles. Honestly though those are the only real annoying characteristics. Hopefully I can have it regeared for Spring.

Just to be clear, you meant 2 piece shafts.

Sometimes its just easier to have someone else do it.

Yup you got me there. I'd say it was a typo but I already have 1piece axles on my mind. I'm really open to different options on the axles though. It'll all depend on funds available at the time. First I'll get it solid and safe , then I'll go from there.

Sounds like a good plan, Pete. :notworthy: I really miss driving my CJ. :( I've been fortunate that my son in law has loaned me his YJ to drive. I love driving the Jeep everywhere. :) This in turn helps motivate me to get my Jeep done. It won't be long and you'll be driving that little red Jeep everyday, and this time it'll be one that you have to keep. :chug:

I hope so. Finding a donor rear frame will probably be the issue. It's one of those ok got the money now I have to wait on the parts. Usually have to wait on the money. :D Oh well just have to wait this one out. Need to gather some cash up for when it gets done. Just sent the step son off to West Chester University today. Couldn't send him off with empty pockets. :notworthy:

He's just a great kid. God I can't brag enough on him. 1 B in his entire life and that was a 89. I miss him already.
