Hey guys, I have an AMC 232 i6 that I rebuilt out of a 74 CJ5 . I had a lot of work done at an engine shop (around 3k) yes I know that's a lot for a basic engine I was young and stupid. It's assembled sitting on a stand. Needs a few accessory pieces. Has a comp cam and springs to match. How much is something like this worth? It's never ran, not even a drop of oil. I rebuilt it and I'm a diesel mechanic so I'm confident in my skills. I want to sell it and have no idea what a reasonable offer is??

Doubtful you would even get half your money back.
Not a lot of demand for that engine.
In my opinion.

I had a guy offer me 350. I'm thinking about taking it just to get it out of my garage and free of the space but I wanted some opinions first.

My SWAG would be maybe $500 at best, but it's going to be tough sell being a AMC 232 i6 instead of a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l .

My suggestion would be on the lookout for a early CJ that has a blown engine to swap yours in and then sell.

That's not a bad idea. You'll need to find at least an intermediate CJ though.

This engine is just sitting on a stand. It was for my project that I'm not doing anymore. I just do t know if 350$ is worth it to let it go or do I just keep it around?

Shame to lose so much money selling it so low. I have learned over the years that my mind can change every so many years when it comes to jeeps and guns. I have made full circle thoughts on what i thought i wanted and eventually came back.
Once i wanted high horsepower engines and 38 inch tires. Now i like close to stock vehicles. If i lived close to you i would buy it myself. Whoever gets this engine will get a trouble free engine for many years. That means more to me now since i have retired. Not in a hurry to get any where. One day this engine could be valuable because they are not as common. When i was about 20 years old a neighbor, decidecd to sell his car that he bought new. It was perfect because it never was out of the garage. It was a 57 chevy, he wanted 600.00 dollars for it, i turned him down because it had a 6 cylinder engine. Still kicking myself over 40 years later

Oh man, I can relate to you. It's crazy how the mind works with ideas and wants compared to totally different wants 6 months later. I'm confident in my mechanical skills so I'm confident there shouldn't be any issues with it. And being so far away is only paying for shipping. I do work at a heavy equipment dealer so if you were actually interested shipping wouldn't be a problem. Lol. But it's nice to know I'm not the only one with changing minds

A rebuilt motor is worth more than $350 I don't care what it is. I would sit on it and keep posting it for sale and not take less than a G.
