Hello and thank you for facilitating this.

I have installed now two pilot bushings from two separate clutch kits from different manufacturers. On the second one I verified fit on Transmission and alignment tool prior to installing. Fit beautifully. After install, not so much. Guide shaft is now .015 inches larger than the hole. So, the install is compressing the bushing too much.

Anyone else had such an issue? Anyone have the correct specs for the pilot bushing? I still have the original as chewed up as it from removal I suppose NAPA can still identify?

Thanks in advance.

When I did my tranny swap, T-5 to T177 with the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l , I had the same problem. None of the kits nor the individual recommended bushings fit. I believe both input shafts are the same BTW. I went to Advanced Auto and found a pilot bearing that worked great. I don't have record of the model # but it looked like this one:

National Needle Bearing FC-66426: Advance Auto Parts

The one I got had an ID of 0.591 but don't recall or have noted what the outside needed to be. It had puller notches in it like the link.

Lots of folks 'knock' the bearing. I've used one for 12+ yrs now with no issues.
Just make sure you add some grease after installing the bearing.
HINT: A socket turned around, makes a great tool for seating a pilot bushing or bearing.

Thank you very much. That appears to be the same exact bearing I picked up today. I was worried about the bearings holding up but 12 years is plenty good for me!

If you have access to a dial indicator I would check for alignment between crankshaft centerline and the bellhousing opening.Very important and easy to do.Full instructions on Lakewood or other scattershield manuf. sites.
I indicate all mine before assembly. mike

Pleased to report the Transmission is seated. Both clutch kits from NAPA and Oreillys have the incorrect bushing. The NAPA bearing they show and sell stand alone, fits just fine.
