I already had floor pans to fix this tub when I was going to use it on another Jeep. Funny how things have come full circle.

There are only 3 more areas of concern that need addressed. One small spot above the flare...

One bubble spot in the rear floor...

Then this little spot by the tailgate...

I have a couple vacation days to burn so I figured Id start using some. Since we've only been having off every other weekend I set up this one as a 4 day weekend and then a few 3 day ones. Me and the boy pulled the Yj tub out of the garage. Its nice having a 6 ft 1 190 lb sophmore around at times. Gotta brag on him a bit since he is the only sophmore starter for our Varsity Football team this year. :notworthy:

After we muscled it outside my brother came by and picked her up. After he has it a bit I'll head up to his place and get some progress shots. I need to find a good link on the boatsides cause the Harley guy is having a tough time grasping it. :D

With the tub out of the garage I got some much needed room. I know it doesnt look like much from the pic but I left the cabinet and shelves there so I had to wedge the Limited in. Once I rearrange the garage a bit I'll have a work area for the Limited and still have plenty of area left over for whatever the Laredo throws at me this winter.

Headed out to Gardners Pa. for Labor Day weekend camping. Garners is near Glennville where I picked up this clean windshield frame and glass for the Limited . By the 2 "ribs" under the glass Im pretty sure its aftermarket but it is nice and clean.

the 2 ribs = YJ windshield frame. Should work well with the YJ tub ;)

I dont know. It seems to have the defrost holes right where they need to be. On my Yj tub I have to cut for those holes.

It looks alot like this replacement from Crown automotive:

On another note hows the CJ5 ? I havent seen you post much about it lately. Yours was one of the ones I was talking about with the Rustoleum. I think I had picked up the same blue. Now that Im re doing the tub though its a real paint job in Silver Mist.

hmmm, I dont know. I've seen the ribs on YJs...

My old 5 has progressed a lot since I let my thread fall off the rails . It's been on a few long distance trips - the last one it came home on a trailer with a blown wheel bearing (that sucked). So I fixed that, got er' ready to go and... took it off the road for winter early this year. I scored an NP435-AA-Dana 300 combo for cheap off a guy with a bad knee; going auto. Thats the main thing comming up. Otherwise it's still "rough" (I'm doing body work right now and I'm terrible at it - no patience, no skill, lousy welder) and will be "ready" for next spring! :D

Thanks for remembering me! I'm still kicking around here.

Yeah tremclad is fun, but if you are swapping tubs and all it's worth your while to go the extra mile, do a quality job.

BC-CJ - Pssst come closer and let me whisper in your ear .... Have you discoverd sand paper flap wheels for your 4 1/4" angle grinder? With a little care you can make the crudest weld look like a professional did it. They come in different grits ... 60 grit removes metal in a controlled hurry .... 80 grit is more controllable and agressive when you want it ..... 120 grit makes metal smooth as a babies rear end .... gods gift to welders..... Okay got it, sand paper flap wheels, keep it between you and me okay..... ;)

LMAO! Classic. I was planning on hiding it with bondo... more professionalism :booze:

OK, hijack over. Sorry Pete.

All Im doing is cleaning and rearranging the garage these days anyway. Not much to report. :D

Well I have something to report now. I was minding my own business at work ( searching Craigslist for Cj parts :D ) and ran across what could be an awesome $70 score. How about 4 in lift springs , a drop pitman arm and 4 new in the box 4 in lift shocks?

The springs are Rough Country and from what I gather they are true to their name as far as ride comfort. Worst case scenario I just use them to mock up my ride hieght during the build. Id need the pitman arm that would go for around $50 anyway and I wont complain about any shocks that only cost me $20. I'll know more when I pick it all up Sunday. :chug:

Score! ANY springs for $70 is a deal. Shocks too? Great deal.

Thats the way I saw it too. Even if they only help me mock up the project its money well spent. All Ive been doing the last couple days is working on my garage project to allow for the Cj project. :)

I know it doesnt look like it but heres some progress:

Just got back from picking up my parts. 4 new in the box rough country springs with blue shock boots I can use.

limitedshocks_zpsc1a55c21.jpg

And the springs with a drop pitman arm. Not quite a whole lift kit for $70 but I wont complain :). I'll need some new bushings and some degree shims for the rear along with brake lines and new U-bolts.

Finally got a little garage time today. It took awhile to get things situated in the garage but I had a little time to take a few things apart. No turning back now. :D

Honestly Ive dreamed about this type of a project for a long time. Thats just what it was , a dream. Without being on this site for years now I dont think Id ever try a project like this. Thanks to all the members that have helped me throughout the years. Time to put on the Big Boy pants and take this Cj down to the frame. I should have it that far by weeks end.

I like the blue color. Same as mine. Are you staying with the original color? I'll be spraying mine Dupo Midnight Blue. Rod:chug:

Im not using blue , but I am going with the original color. It was Silver Mist before it was blue.

Unless I can figure out what color this is. I kinda like it a little better. Im pretty sure its Slate Blue Metallic.

Yeah we'll see. Im hoping they are good enough for mocking it up atleast. Anything more than that will be a bonus.

Both colors are sharp, the silver mist jeep has a black windshield frame and both have the flares painted same as body color. Is this a Limited thing? If so, how durable is paint on the flares?

Yes the black windshield frame and painted flares where part of the Limited package. As far as the durability of the paint on the flares I can only tell you mine is gone. :D I know I and others never really had good luck painting them. I would really research how to prep them if I were to try again. Ive decided on tube fenders for mine and my rear flares will most likely be steel.

The more I look at those pics , the more Im leaning toward the blue. I may have to put up a poll when I get close to paint.
