This weekend I was planning on installing my rear disc kit. I pulled the drums off and removed the nuts holding the axle, tube, and backing plates together. I was under the assumption that it wouldn't take much effort to pull the axles out of the tubes. I have a '76 CJ5 , but the axle is most definitely a Dana 44 . I can't see behind the seal, so I have no clue what the issue is.
Did the D44s have c-clips? If not, what do you think is going on?
I can't install the disc brakes until I get these axles out.
Any insight is appreciated.
