Ok. First is you have a short nosed jeep, astrait 6 or v8 is a hard engine to get in there.
second, in 65 jeep started putting a buick 225 cid v6 in those shot jeeps. Finding one can be a direct bolt in with just motor mount swaps
Other than that the best bet is a later year Dauntless Buick 225 V6 with an adapter
Any proje t with a new tcase will mean a new rear axle for that jeep and once you swap the t case you will soon learn of thousands in adapters and driveshafts to be bought.
My advice is either finding the old Buick or a newer one.
the reason Jeep went to theV6 was because a strait 6 was to long to fit in there with out compromise.I have been unsuccessfull in locating the 225 but have been able to find a few of the straight 6 (AMC 232 i6 and AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l ). Are these impossible to fit in or just harder than the 225? Would I have to do alot of fabricating to make it work? I've heard the straight 6 is a better engine and longer lasting then the v6? Your thoughts?
