Rear main seal replacement

Can this be done without dropping the tranny and Transfer Case ?

Yes-You'll need a torque wrench to re-tighten the main-bearing cap bolts.
Pulling the oil pan is a bit of a PITA also.
How do you know it's not the valve cover leak'n down to that area?
How much oil is be'n left on the ground?
You sure it's engine oil and not gear oil from the tranny?

Going to pull inspection plate first to be sure.But it is a thin slick oil not the tacky 80w90.Dont smell or taste like gear lube.
Top of bell housing is dry.
What are the torque specs for main caps?
Kinda waiting on a buddy to get his lift emptied so I dont have to lay on my back.Getting too old for that.

that tool is great! have actually never seen it and i ve been with jeep for 17yrs!! trick ive done similar with a long small zip tie to protect the seal and help it through the bearing

I have never seen this tool!
I have always used a piece of TIG rod or something similar to push the old seal out, and usually accomplished nothing but getting frustrated and dropping the crank anyway. I have been procrastinating on replacing the rear seal. Going to order one of these guys!

Hint-Coat the replacement seal in gear oil before install.
