Next find the purple and orange wire coming out of the distributor and follow them up until you find where it goes into the firewall at the computer. (1st pic) Once you find it coming out of the firewall, cut it. They are braided together. (2nd Pic) From your orange and purple wire coming from the ignition module, splice them into the orange and purple coming from your distributor. (pic 3)

Thats it for the wiring. Next you need to re-set your timing.

Disconnect the vacuum line going to the distributor and plug the port it originally went to. (pic 1) Now attach the disconnect vacuum line from the distributor to a tee that you have to install in the ported vacuum line. (pic 2). The ported vacuum line is attached to a fitting on the BBD carburetor located on the side towards the valve cover, about 1/2 way u the carb. (pic 3) It should look like (pic 4) when you are done.

Start the engine and set your timing and adjust it to 8 degrees to BTDC. Some people will plug the vacuum advance at the distributor, but I forgot and it didn't seem to make a difference as I got it to set and it ran so much smoother.

I tied off and taped up the new splices to keep things neat as I was about to begin installing the MC2150 and knew that a lot of the emissions stuff was going to be coming out. Wires below the ignition module (pic 1) Wires from distributor (pic 2). I took a vid of the whole procedure and will post a link to youtube once I can edit it. (weekend project) I will post the MC2150 install tomorrow.

When I did mine I used waterproof connectors because it being so low on the body I didn't want water and other stuff hurting the connections. I would recommend changing those to a more weather proof one those look like something you would see in your house.

Yeah, I plan to and heat shrink the splice, but it is a three hour round trip to the auto part store, so I make do with what I can scrounge up at the house.

Got new rims and tires today. 31x10.5. Really like the ride. Next, shocks!

Looks good. What brand tire did you go with?

Looks great, like the paint job in the sun

As promised the Carter BBD removal and install of the MC2150.

First I removed the Air filter tray, and detached all the hoses from it. Next I removed the fuel line from the old carb. (Pic 1) Then find your throttle return spring(s) (Pic 2) and remove them (pic 3) . Next find your electric choke heater wire (pic 4) and remove it (pic 5).

Next, on the back of the carb. find your stepper motor plug (pic 1) and remove it. (pic 2) Then located the carburetor bowl vent line (pic 3) and disconnect it. (Pic 4) and another angle (pic 5)

next, remove the idle solenoid vacuum line (pic 1) and any other vacuum line you find attached to the carb. (pic 2) Find the linkage arm and disconnect this, it pulls straight off. (pic 3) There should be nothing else from the engine attached to the carb, so you can now find the nuts holding it to the manifold and remove them and simply lift off the carb. Once off you have the manifold exposed. (pic 4) Remove any spacers and gaskets (as seen in pic 4) and you should have nice metal manifold intake. (pic 5) As you can see I stuffed bright orange rags into the intake. This is to keep out any junk as you clean up the manifold or anything else on the engine. I use orange so that it will be easy to spot if I try and install the new carb and forget there is a rag in there.

You see from the above pic 5 that there are 4 bolts sticking up. You will need to remove these. Best way is to use the two nut method, and they back out fairly easy. Intake with studs removed. (pic 1) Next I took the screws that will hold the adaptor to the intake and placed WD40 on them and screwed them in. This caused old rust to come up as they went in and I made sure they seat without cross treading before I put them in with the adaptor. (pic 2) Remove the screws, clean it up, place your gasket (you can see this in pic 3) place the adaptor on, and tighten you screws to hold it all in place. (pic 3).

Next we stop a minute. I needed to place the electric choke from the Carter into the MC2150. This entails the removal of the plastic cover from the Carter (I had to drill out the rivets to remove but was simple) and the removal of the heat element inside the cover. Here is the tricky part. You have to flip the element when placing it in the MC2150 as they work opposite from each other so keep track of how it comes out and how you place it.

Once it is out, place it in the MC2100 and snap the cap on and screw in the retaining ring.

Ok, now my MC2150 is ready to install. Place the gasket on the adaptor. (Pic 1) and then set the MC2150 on this. Make sure everything lines up. Double check. (pic 2) Tighten the bolts all around at the same tightness. In other words, don't crank down one corner then move to the next. Hand tighten all them, then work your way around tightening each a little at a time, until it is nice and snug.

Now the fun part. :( Find your PVC valve and run a hose from this (pic 1)to the outlet at the rear of your MC2150. Mine was on the back right side, some are in the center. It's the big nipple. (pic 2) Next, there will also on your valve cover a crank case valve breather. From this, (pic 3) I ran a tube to the nipple also in the rear of the MC2150 that that runs air into the air filter area of the carb. (pic 4)

Next find the tube coming from your EGR valve. (pic 1) Next, there are two nipples coming from the Thermal switch that are attached to each other. Find this hose and attach a "T" to it. You can see it clearly in (Pic 1) as the hose other than the EGR hose that are tied into each other and then move upward. On the "T" coming from your Thermal switch, you want to attached the vacuum advance hose coming from your distributor and then also attach a hose to the port under the electric choke of your MC2150. (pic 2 and Pic 3)

Next, find your linkage arm and snap it on. (pic 1) For your throttle return spring, you need a piece like shown in (pic 2). It just attaches to the bolt holding on the carb. Attach your spring and test that it works the throttle fine. You may need to add a second spring or adjust your old one or get a new one..depends on how you like your gas peddle to feel. (pic 3). And that is it
