Roll cage add on

Roll cage add on
Well I just finished welding the front assembly up, I am going to paint it then install and weld to the rear/stock bar in place and then respray the joint.
Sorry I don't have my camera for pics but they will follow.
Thanks for the support crew!:notworthy:

I played with the bender today a little bit. It crimped the first test piece but the second piece is looking pretty good.

Finished the front bar addition today and what a releif. After fitting each peice and tacking it up I removed and completed the welding and painting without too much pain, reinstalled back in the Jeep and the going gets more difficult trying to weld to the existing bar without catching everything on fire  and then trying to repaint was a challenge I must say.
Oh well so much for my winter project, what's next? I'm thinking a better seat belt setup is on the list.

:notworthy: Looks good :chug:

Very nice! :notworthy: Beautiful work as always.

If your planing on doing it yourself and want premium paint I have enough of the factory white to do another. It is PPG CLV single stage 2 part epoxy.
PM if interested, it's not cheap though.

you did a very good job, I am truly impressed. How are those Knee Knockers working out for you??

Sasquach,
You should be careful with that paint, I don't think that we can get it in CA anymore!
I had to buy some of the newer stuff the other day to do another project, not sure how much different it is yet.

Very very nice. Those guys have a complete cage kit for the CJ8 that I am interested in and after seeing yours done I think I am sold on it.

Thanks!
I am very happy with their product, almost uncommon in todays world to get something that is actually right and fits correctly.

The bar fits in closer than I thought it would and my problem area was twisting the foot in and out past the door sill, I made a point of getting the bar as far forward as possible and is only marginaly harder now than before. thanks for suggesting the grab handles too, They were not something I was thinking about.

Yes it is no longer available in Ca. and is illigal at least for shops to use. This is why I ended up with an extra gallon, I was buying near the cut off and did not want to run short so bought extra.
I treat it with serious respect though and use all the protective gear.

CJ Sport Cage Dash Tie-In Kit DIY CJ, CJ5, CJ7, CJ8 | eBay

On the subject of Jeep roll bars, here is a Jeeper with a plasma table. This is both a very cool and maybe a very dangerous thing. I just ordered a couple of dash mounts. One of the things I liked about them is they are un assembled. I just wanted smooth cuts and the holes in the right place. We shall see.

I have the same setup as pictured I used angle iron and steel plate and tied it in to the frame. With the angle iron I was still able to use my e-brake. Worked out well and I have the re-assurance of it being tied to the frame.

any chance of some pictures??
:D

Have you thought about a bar across the dash? I think it would add stability to the roll cage and help preventing it from folding in on itself during a roll.

I will take some photos as soon as I can. the way its set up keeps it strong and there are two plates at the floor bolted together and the bottom plate welded to the frame with tri-angular 1/4in. plate. came out very nice and strong.
