A freinds son has a scout front and rear diff he may want to get rid of. The scout originally had a deasel motor. What would be a good price and should I grab them? The rear has a posi unit in it.

I would pay $AMC 150 for the rear, and he would have to pay me $100 to take the front.

The issue with the front is to get both the pinion angle right and the castor you would need to cut and re-weld the steering knuckles.

you did not mention what ratio they are.

I paid $300 for my scouts. But I did get a Dana 20 and some other parts. The front 44 is fine. Not that hard to cut, rotate and reweld. A waggy front 44 is a good option. Brake parts are a little pricey.

Brake parts for a waggy 44 are less expensive than the Scout/CJ/Ford parts.

Both the waggy and Scout axles are not bolt in deals. The spring pad width on both is wider than a CJ. Parts for a Waggy 44 are cheaper since it has common parts with a Chevy 44 and 10 bolt. Ford hub and rotors will give the 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern you need, and work with the Jeep/Chevy brakes.
