we cleaned out the weber carburetor real good (a good as we could with out completely rebuilding it) put it back on did not find any vacuum leaks, idle tuned it, drive it and it did not stall when stopping but it seemed sluggish on the accelerate. Is this a timing issue, or something else?

This goes with my previous post "81 CJ7 stalls out"

If it seems "Sluggish" upon acceleration it could be a ignition timing issue or a problem with the accelerator pump in the carb. If you get an ignition miss or something close to a stall when you mash the throttle, I would think accelerator pump. Make sure your ignition timing is set correctly with a timing light and the timing advances when you open the throttle. Put a vacumn gauge on it and see if you get a steady reading.
